Nominations Clarification 3 & Late Nominations

Hello! I have a couple nomination clarification notes:

• Ace Attorney — The fandom "大逆転裁判 | Dai Gyakuten Saiban | The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles (Video Games)" is already in the tagset (and there are a couple more relationship noms lingering in the tagset interface) but I also have relationship nominations for the fandom "逆転裁判 | Gyakuten Saiban | Ace Attorney" which...I guess includes the Professor Layton crossover? I would like to hear from nominators of both fandoms about if we really need two separate fandoms or if they can be merged and, if so, which fandom tag should be kept.
• Star Wars - that's not how the Force works! — I can't accept this tag because it's too vague/confusing. Do you want a work that explores how the Force works/elaborates on canon worldbuilding? Do you want a work that deliberately disregards canon worldbuilding? Please let me know!
I got an answer about this on Discord and the fandoms have been accepted separately! The DGS nominator who nominated Barok & Iris & Sholmes and Iris & Ryunosuke & Sholmes & Susato will have to provide those tags as correctly formatted tags using the character's full names as late nominations to get them into the tagset, however.
• Kino no Tabi | Kino's Journey - All Media Types — I miscommunicated with someone who was helping me with the tagset and this was accidentally accepted. I feel like removing it without hearing from you might mess with your sign up plans, so I guess it's in now! However, if there are Kino no Tabi adaptations/related fandoms that you don't want, please use the late nominations process to nominate a more specific fandom.

This exchange doesn't allow the use of the "any" ticky box during sign ups, so we can keep adding to the tagset if you realize you forgot something! I have to add tags manually, so please only ask for tags you're going to use on your requests and please format them for me in the manner described below. You can comment below or email me!

Also, if you need tags for more than one fandom, put them on separate lines rather than mixing them all up together — I'm asking for them in the format above because that's how they have to be formatted to use the batch load tagset page.

I'm telling you this not to scold you, but because this is a common mistake that participants might not realize is a mistake unless they're told. What you probably don't know is that disambiguations (the part where the fandom is in the relationship tag in parenthesis) are important because they stop tags from wandering into the wrong fandom and let us know what fandom the tag belongs to if the tag falls out of its associated fandom. Correcting tags with missing disambiguations is absolutely the most labor intensive part of any exchange, so it really helps when participants add them for us!

In regards to needing each fandom on its own line, I asked for it that way because then I can copy/paste your nominations straight to the batch load tagset page without any silly mistakes on my part — for example, when copying your tags I almost added "Constantine & Garrett & Victoria? (Thief VG)" to the tagset, whoops — and although you'll run into late tagset additions like this a lot less than needing to disambiguate, it will still help out the next mod down the line if you do it.

Sorry for the mini tagset lecture and let me know if you've remembered more tags!

Also, it's probably worth mentioning that there's really no benefit to shorter tags in tagset nominations! Our goal is actually to have unambiguous tags and no duplicates. Since DGS isn't a fandom I'm familiar with, it'd be hard for me to be absolutely sure that, say, there's only one character with the name "Ryunosuke"! So we usually insist on full names, which also helps keep the tagset consistent.

Hello! You can submit late nominations by following the instructions in the post above. I have to add the late tags manually as my time allows so there can be quite a delay on them (for example, several nominations from early on the 7th still aren't in because first I had to work and then my power was out) so getting the nominations to me earlier is definitely better, but I'll take late nominations all throughout the sign up period!

Hello! Unfortunately I can't accept your nominations in this format. The nominations instructions are here but I will list the changes I need you to make:

1. This is a relationship matching exchange, not a character matching exchange, so I need tagsets with two or more characters in an & relationship OR if you only want gen fic about single characters, it needs to be a character tag with Solo: at the front.

2. Once you have relationship or solo tags, they need to be disambiguated. This means you just need to put the fandom or an abbreviation of the fandom name after the relationship tag in parethesis. You can see plenty of examples of this in the tagset already! Disambiguations help the tagset function.

3. Since you have to give me a new list anyway, it would be really helpful if you would switch the colons after the fandom names to commas and get rid of the dashes. This is for finnicky backend AO3 reasons — it will let me just copy/paste your tags into the tagset interface which saves me time, although if you don't do it I won't reject otherwise correct tag lists.

If you want a bunch of different combinations, I will add literally any amount of correctly formatted tags for you, so feel free to go wild on that front. If you have questions, please let me know!

A couple of your tags were longer than 100 characters, which is a tag length limit set by AO3 that I mentioned in the instructions in this post. I changed the ones that could be changed (iirc the Flying Nun tag and the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea tag) but your Hogan's Heroes tag is over 200 characters so you'll have to rethink that before I can add it. You don't have to include people's army rank in their names, but you do need to use their full names. You'll probably need to pick less than 9 characters to get a tag with under 100 characters. You can abbreviate your disambiguations. For example, instead of "(Hogan's Heroes (TV 1965))" I would accept "(Hogan's Heroes)" or even "(H's H)". There aren't any other Hogan's Heroes fandoms in the tagset, so there's not likely to be any confusion if you leave off the medium and year.

When you give me your new Hogun's Heroes tags, please make sure to give them to me in the format I've asked for in the post above, in my first reply to you, and in this comment. Allowing people to add as many late tags as they want is an unusual choice for an exchange mod because it's pretty labor intensive and time consuming, so it's important that people who are asking for late tags read the instructions carefully. If you have questions or are confused I'm happy to explain further, and if you have any suggestions on how I could provide clearer instructions in the future, I'd love to hear them!

The only Warframe canonical on AO3 is just "Warframe" so this tag is in under that fandom — if that's incorrect and you really need the "(Video Game)" part, let me know and I'll fix! Also, disambiguations only need to go at the end of relationship tags unless it's a crossover relationship, so this tag is in as "Operator & Ordan Karris (Warframe)"!
