Edited a little belatedly to add: I have clarified the group nominations rules a little. Basically, please be aware that whether or not you phrase the group as "Creator's Choice of [group] Member(s)", we won't be able to make creators include every member of a group, so requesting "Character A & Cool Superhero Team (Cool Superhero Fandom)" will mean you are only at minimum guaranteed to get Character A & one member of the Cool Superhero Team, not all members.

What is your policy for "Character & Everyone" ships? Do you want it to be more specific than that?

Hi nonnie! We don't need you to request specific characters, but our preferred phrasing would be:

Character & Creator's Choice of Character(s) (Fandom)

If you don't want a work that could be tagged "Character & Original Character(s)" when it's posted, we would suggest:

Character & Creator's Choice of Canon Character(s) (Fandom)

We definitely get the impulse to want your fave to interact with everyone (we definitely have that impulse too) but because relationship tags are enforced in this exchange (that is, your creator must create something that matches one of your relationship tags) relationship tags need to have clear, easily definable meanings and also be tags that could be accomplished in 1,500 words (or other medium equivalent).

What are you doing when two people nominate the same pairing, but one of them has them not in the order of the AO3 tag? For example, I'm about to nominate "Leonard "Bones" McCoy & Spock (AOS)", but I've just noticed that it is already in the tagset, under "Spock & Leonard McCoy"?

We haven't asked people to stick to the AO3 naming order so unless a tag was inaccurate or confusing we wouldn't change it. We have a nominations clean up period to check the tagset for duplicate tags, and also ask that everyone let us know if they find any duplicates, and of course folks like you who check the tagset before nominating cut down on duplicates a lot!

In an ideal world we would catch duplicates as they come through the mod queue but with a multifandom exchange that can be really hard because let's be real the names of characters we don't know do kinda run together.

Sorry, me again XD Just got this message on my nominations set:

"Sorry! We couldn't save this tag set nomination because:
Someone else has already nominated the tag Steve Rogers & Sam Wilson for this set but in fandom Marvel Cinematic Universe. (All nominations have to be unique for the approval process to work.) Try making your nomination more specific, for instance tacking on (Marvel (Comics))."

The thing is, I only nominated this specific pairing (along with a second that also got rejected) under "Marvel (Comics)", so I'm a bit confused as to what to do?

I am assuming that what happened is you put "Marvel (Comics)" in the fandom and then literally just "Steve Rogers & Sam Wilson" in the relationship slot. I currently have a whole big list of Marvel Cinematic Universe nominations that I need to disambiguate because the nominator didn't do it for me — which means someone else came to the tagset, put "Marvel Cinematic Universe" in the fandom slot and then "Steve Rogers & Sam Wilson" in the relationship slot. "Steve Rogers & Sam Wilson" and "Steve Rogers & Sam Wilson" are literally the same tag as far as the tagset is concerned, even though they're nominated in different fandoms, and that's one of the reasons why disambiguating your relationships is important. (And in case you don't know: nominating literally the same tag twice on your own nominations page will break it in a way mods can't fix without clearing everyone's nominations pages, so if you're in more than one Marvel fandom watch out for that!)

So, to clarify, if I have relationships from, let's say, the 616 and the Ultimates under "Marvel (Comics)", I have to split them up in separate nominations?

Our guidelines say:

Marvel comics may be nominated by title or under the name of the appropriate Marvel universe (Marvel 616, Marvel Ultimates, etc). Nominations for “Marvel (Comics)” will not be accepted.

"Marvel (Comics)" is essentially too broad of a fandom for this exchange, so you would need to nominate under either the Marvel universe or specific comic title(s) that you're interested in. For example:

Fandom: Marvel 616
Relationship: Sam Wilson & Steve Rogers (Marvel 616)

You can also nominate under Crossover Fandom if you want cross-universe relationships:

Fandom: Crossover Fandom
Relationship: Sam Wilson (Marvel 616) & Steve Rogers (Ultimates)
