Requests

Here are some general reminders about requests:

• You must request a minimum of 3 unique fandoms from the tagset. "Crossover Fandom" counts as a fandom.
• You can make multiple requests for the same fandom.
• Each request must have at minimum:
  • 1 medium
  • 1 relationship/character/group
  • 2 freeform tags.
• You can offer up to 40 freeforms per fandom; 20 of them will go in "optional tags", and you will need to copy/paste them directly from the tagset as they will not autofill in the dropdown.
• Remember your creator may combine any of your freeforms in a request with any of the characters or relationships in that request, so make sure you would like to receive all the possible combinations in each request.
• DNWs (Do Not Wants) can only be enforced if they go in your AO3 sign up. Your DNWs should go on every request they apply to. Please check to make sure your DNWs do not contradict your sign up. In the event that a DNW is included in your gift, only reasonable DNWs in your signup will be enforced. (Please bear in mind that DNWs cannot be used to box your creator into producing a very specific work.)
• If you request a tag that indicates a group or type of character (for example, Group: Any Canon Character, Canon Character X & [Species], Solo: Creator's Choice of [Group]), your DNWs cannot restrict your potential creators from using any member of that group.
  • For example, if you request Any Member of Angel Investigations & Lilah Morgan (Buffyverse), you cannot DNW the appearance or inclusion of any Angel Investigations member.
  • If the group is ambiguous, mods will err on the side of the creator's choice as long as the creator seems to be filling the request in good faith.
  • If the group indicates a type of character (a species, an occupation, citizens of a particular nation, etc) and does not specify canon characters, the creator is free to use OCs if they wish. A creator filling "Zuko & Fire Nation citizens (ATLA)" would for example be free to create original Fire Nation characters.

Requesting vids?

Please be sure to request things you think a vidder would be able to find footage of. There's no way for us to actually enforce this, just...you know...you are much more likely to get a vid if there's video to vid with! This is especially important if you're planning to request all vids.

This isn't to say you can't or shouldn't request vids of non-visual mediums or events that never happened in canon, though. Some vidders might be up to that kind of challenge! Just keep in mind that the more specific or detailed your freeforms are the harder a vid request will be to fill.

Requesting podfic?

If you know of a fanfic that would meet your request, that you would like a podfic of, and that the author would allow to be podficced, please provide that information in your optional details! This isn't a requirement, but it will make it much easier for podficcers to take your assignment or treat you. It would also be helpful for them to know if you're alright with your own works being podficced, if you've written works that would fulfill your podfic request(s).

Offers

Here are some general reminders about offers:

• You must offer a minimum of 4 unique fandoms from the tagset. "Crossover Fandom" counts as a fandom.
• Each offer must have a minimum of one fandom, one medium, one relationship/character/group, and two freeforms.
• For offers, you can choose to offer "Any" freeform. If you do, you could match with any freeform in the tagset. Please carefully read every freeform and consider if you could write 1.5k words about it, or complete a finished piece of fanart, or make a vid, or a podfic. If you fail to account for the existence of one of the freeforms and get matched to a request you don't want to create for, you will have to default.
• If you are unmatchable (if you don't offer anything that matches to someone's requests) we will email you...but this holds up assignments going out, so please try to be matchable. We will email you if you are unmatchable when sign ups close.
• When you get matched to someone you will match on one fandom, one medium, one relationship/character/group, and one freeform. You will still see all of your recip's requests! But you only need to write one of them.

PLEASE NOTE: The tag(s) you enter must be from the tagset and they must match exactly. If the tag you want won't autocomplete, that's a known bug! Copy the tag directly from the tagset and it will be accepted.

Hi mods, this is prolly very obvious already, but just want to confirm. Since this is a gen exchange, smut and pwp are automatically DNW right? We don't have to state it on the optional details field?

Hi nonnie! Yes, explicit sexual works aren't allowed because they're not gen and if someone did happen to give you one it wouldn't fulfill your request even if you didn't DNW it. You might want to add related DNWs if you want absolutely no mention of kink or noncon or something, though, and you might see people DNWing smut or PWP just because they're copy/pasting their usual DNW list and not adjusting it.
